Warning about taking Tax Advice from "finfluencers"

The Tax Practioners Board has released an article warning tax payers to be cautious of taking advice from “finfluencers. These are influencers who offer financial advice, including tax advice, on various social media platforms such as Instagram and Tik Tok.

​

“Finfluencers” don’t always have the necessary qualifications to give out financial advice and are usually remunerated by companies that want to promote their financial products through the “finfluencers” social media platform.

​

Such financial products may not be suitable for everyone and the “finfluencers” may not fully understand the risks of promoting them.

​

The article serves as a reminder to only use tax practioners who are registered with the Tax Practioners Board (TPB) for tax advice.
